P.O.D. helped to kick off what would be an incredible rock show at the BSSA, performing a shorter set than I expected but nevertheless they haven't seemed to have lost any steam over the years. From staples like "Alive", "Boom", and "Youth of the Nation", all the way to their new album, they showcased what made them awesome in the first place.... head banging rock.
I have to admit, going in to this show I was a little skeptical. As a Three Days Grace fan, I was concerned if Matt Walst could fill the void left by Adam Gontier. I think that was the question on everyone's mind. Will it be the same? Will it be worse? Will it be better? I have to say, I was thoroughly impressed by Matt's performance. The band is going through a tough time, but that didn't stop them from putting on an awesome show. Everything from guitars to vocals seemed very close to what you are used to hearing on the albums. That was my main concern, will they be able to maintain any type of fidelity? I'm happy to say that the answer to that question is a resounding yes.
Shinedown delivered an amazing performance, and I was impressed with their passion and interactivity with the crowd. They seemed genuinly happy to be there, doing what they do best, and Brent Smith delivered with amazing vocals. From the band beginning their set on smaller stages near the sound boards, to closing with and awesome performance of "Bully", they were hitting on all cylinders.
